Callaway UPro Golf GPS Review: Callaway have definitely raised the bar with the release of their Upro GPS system. The basic mode has everything you would expect to find in a top-end golf GPS caddie. Distances to the front, centre and back of the green are clearly shown, whilst the hazards are listed in order with the how far to the front and to carry. Moreover downloads for this model are free! The ProMode is where the Upro really leads the way in comparison to its rivals, the smartview (TM) is an outstanding feature which shows wonderful aerial views from wherever you happen to be standing; and the upro superimposes the distances on the image while updating the variables while you are moving. The superb Anypoint (TM) feature allows you to calculate the distances between any two points giving you control on every hole. Finally the flyover feature at the start of every hole is amazing, the graphics are fantastic and the 100, 150 and 200 yard markers are superimposed on the images.

“Being able to select the pin location then drag back on the map to a layup position is simply invaluable for a GPS. You can select exactly where is safe on the hole to the desired length you want and it tells you the distance to the point as well as the distance from that point to the green. In the few rounds I played, it made me look like a course management Genius on a number of occasions. I am not sure I would have seen those options by simply looking at the hole. Being able to see what obstacles may be in the way on the approach. Reminded me of the first time I was really able to see 3 moves ahead when playing Pool or Chess.”
